Specifically from the Chippewwa, and Pottawatomie tribes but any other recipes would be greatly appreciated.Does anyone have any good American Indian food recipes?
I happen to be Ojibwa and live near the REZ up here in Northern Minnesota..Here is MY favorite recipe. I know it has canned soup but..heck we have become civilized and don't eat seagulls anymore. If you like wild rice..which by the way my family harvests every year from the lakes right here.
1 1/2 Lbs. venison cut into small bite size pieces you can use Beef too.
: I lightly flour the Venison with flour and salt and pepper.
\and fry in a hot pan with 2 TBLS or a Little more if needed of OIL until both sides are brown and add the onion and celery. I cook until they are just a little translucent. Then I add the water and rice. That will take around 45 min to cook. When the rice is puffed out on the sides it is done. Some people add white rice and it is good that way too. I don't all the time. When that is done add the soup, soy sauce and butter
3/4 stick of salted sweet cream butter
1 cup Sliced celery very finely chopped
Salt %26amp; pepper
3C. water
1 tbs. Soy sauce
1/2 cup Wild rice (that's been rinsed)
1 Onion chopped
1 can Cream of mushroom soup
optional 2 C. cooked white rice
optional 1 small can of mushrooms
My family loves this..you will tweak it until you have the right combo for your family too.Does anyone have any good American Indian food recipes?
