Traditional American food recipes?

I need some traditional american food ideas. We have to make ftraditional food for foran exchange students. Please i am not looking for hot dogs and hamburgers.....lunch food that can be kept at room temeture or refrigerated. Also deserts. thanks!Traditional American food recipes?
Apple Pie


6-7 large apples


1 cup sugar, divided


1 pinch nutmeg


1 pinch cinnamon


2 tablespoons flour


1/4 cup butter or margarine


lemon juice


1 pastry for double-crust pie (or use Pillsbury pie dough, in dairy section of grocery store(package has ready-made crust for pie)


Preheat oven to 350掳F. Line pie pan with bottom crust.


Peel and slice apples. Put 1/2 of the apple slices in prepared pie pan. Sprinkle apple slices with 1/2 cup sugar, a little nutmeg and cinnamon. Add rest of apples and top with rest of sugar (1/2 cup), a little nutmeg cinnamon, flour and butter or margarine cut into small pieces. Sprinkle with lemon juice.


Cover with top crust. Crimp edges together with fork.


Sprinkle top with sugar and cut steam vents in top crust.


Put pie on baking sheet in case of spill-overs. Bake for 1 hour at 350掳F.

A basic meatloaf with bacon and rosemary. Use it to make meatloaf sandwiches.








INGREDIENTS:


2 pounds lean ground beef


2 teaspoons salt


1/4 teaspoon ground black pepper


2 eggs, lightly beaten


1/2 cup soft bread crumbs


1/2 cup milk


1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce


1/4 cup finely chopped onion


1/4 teaspoon dried leaf thyme, crumbled


1/4 teaspoon dried leaf rosemary, crumbled


3 slices bacon, halved crosswise


PREPARATION:


Mix ground beef, salt, pepper, eggs, bread crumbs, milk, Worcestershire, onion, thyme, and rosemary. Pack into a lightly greased loaf pan or form into a loaf pan or form into a loaf and place on a lightly greased baking sheet with sides, such as a jelly roll pan. Top meatloaf with sliced bacon and bake at 350掳 for 1 hour.





Keep refrigerated after baking until just before you need the food...Slice in thin slices and make meatloaf sandwiches....Might won't to serve ketcup with them..Some people like ketchup in their meatloaf sandwich...about as american as you can get....

German potato salad


This German potato salad is made with a bacon and egg dressing, and includes chopped green pepper and onion.


INGREDIENTS:


4 cups cubed peeled potato


4 slices bacon, diced


1/2 cup chopped onion


1/2 cup chopped green pepper


2 eggs, beaten


1/4 cup sugar


1/4 cup vinegar


1/4 teaspoon pepper


2 hard-cooked egg, sliced


PREPARATION:


Cook potatoes in a covered saucepan in an inch of boiling salted water until tender, about 20 minutes. Drain. In a large skillet, saut茅 bacon until almost crisp. Add onion and green pepper; cook 3 minutes longer. Combine beaten eggs with vinegar, sugar, and pepper; mix to blend well. Gradually add egg mixture to the bacon mixture, stirring and cooking until mixture thickens. Remove from heat and toss gently with potatoes. Spoon salad into a serving dish and garnish with sliced eggs.


Serves 6 to 8.

I second Georgia Peach! Apple pie (or pecan pie) is a definite yes for dessert!

hotdogs and hamburgers would be a good idea though lol.


we dont have many traditional foods except greasy fatty stuff made from junk animal parts : ) Yay us!

NGREDIENTS





* 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour


* 1/2 cup vegetable oil


* 2 tablespoons cold milk


* 1 1/2 teaspoons white sugar


* 1 teaspoon salt


* 6 Fuji apples, cored and sliced


* 3/4 cup white sugar


* 3 tablespoons all-purpose flour


* 3/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon


* 1/2 teaspoon ground nutmeg


* 1/2 cup all-purpose flour


* 1/2 cup white sugar


* 1/2 cup butter





DIRECTIONS





1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C).


2. To Make Crust: In a large bowl, mix together 1 1/2 cups flour, oil, milk, 1 1/2 teaspoons sugar and salt until evenly blended. Pat mixture into a 9 inch pie pan, spreading the dough evenly over the bottom and up sides. Crimp edges of the dough around the perimeter.


3. To Make Filling: Mix together 3/4 cup sugar, 3 tablespoons flour, cinnamon, and nutmeg. Sprinkle over apples and toss to coat. Spread evenly in unbaked pie shell.


4. To Make Topping: Using a pastry cutter, mix together 1/2 cup flour, 1/2 cup sugar and butter until evenly distributed and crumbly in texture. Sprinkle over apples.


5. Put pie in the oven on a cookie sheet to catch the juices that may spill over. Bake 45 minutes.
Alrighty then! I say fried chicken, mashed potateos w/ gravy, some homemade biscuits and some ice cold sweet tea! Hot dawg now thatsa great home cooked me ta me! Lol I'm a southern gal if y'all didn't notice lol.
