Ono Butter Mochi: (cook time, one hour)
INGREDIENTS
1 pound mochiko (glutinous rice flour)
2 1/2 cups white sugar
1 teaspoon baking powder
1/2 cup butter, melted
3 cups whole milk
5 eggs
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1 cup sweetened, flaked coconut
DIRECTIONS
Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Grease a 9x13 inch baking dish.
In a medium bowl, whisk together the eggs, vanilla and milk. In a separate larger bowl, stir together the rice flour, sugar, and baking powder. Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients, and stir to blend. Mix in melted butter and coconut. Pour into the prepared pan.
Bake for 1 hour in the preheated oven. Cool completely, then cut into squares to serve.

Hawaiian Pizza: (Time: total 40 minutes)
INGREDIENTS
1 (.25 ounce) package active dry yeast
1 1/4 cups warm water (110 degrees to 115 degrees F)
3 cups all-purpose flour
1 tablespoon sugar
1 teaspoon salt
1 (15 ounce) can pizza sauce
3 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
1 cup diced fully cooked ham
1 (8 ounce) can pineapple tidbits, drained
DIRECTIONS
In a large mixing bowl, dissolve yeast in water. Add 1-1/2 cups flour, sugar and salt; beat until smooth. Add enough remaining flour to form a soft dough. Turn onto a floured surface; knead until smooth and elastic, about 6-8 minutes. Place in a greased bowl, turning once to grease top. Cover and let rise in a warm place until doubled, about 1 hour. Punch dough down; press onto the bottom and up the sides of a greased 15-in. x 10-in. x 1-in. baking pan. Spread with pizza sauce; sprinkle with cheese, ham and pineapple. Bake at 400 degrees F for 20-25 minutes or until the crust is browned and cheese is melted.

INGREDIENTS
1 (18.25 ounce) package yellow cake mix
1 1/4 cups cold milk
1 (3.4 ounce) package instant vanilla pudding mix
1 (20 ounce) can crushed pineapple, drained
1 (1.3 ounce) envelope whipped topping mix
1 (3 ounce) package cream cheese, softened
1/4 cup sugar
1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
1/2 cup flaked coconut, toasted
DIRECTIONS
Prepare and bake the cake according to package directions, using a greased 13-in. x 9-in. x 2-in. baking pan. Cool.
In a bowl, whisk together milk and pudding mix; let stand to thicken. Stir in pineapple. Spread over cake. Prepare whipped topping mix according to package directions; set aside.
In a mixing bowl, beat cream cheese, sugar and vanilla until smooth. Beat in 1 cup whipped topping. Fold in remaining topping. Spread over pudding. Sprinkle with coconut. Cover and refrigerate for 3 hours or overnight.

2 (3 ounce) packages cream cheese, softened
1/3 cup creamy salad dressing, e.g. Miracle Whip 鈩?
1 (8 ounce) can pineapple tidbits, juice reserved
3 (5 ounce) cans chunk chicken, drained
1 cup blanched slivered almonds
1 1/2 cups seedless grapes, halved
DIRECTIONS
In a medium bowl, beat cream cheese until fluffy. Mix in salad dressing and 2 tablespoons reserved pineapple juice. Stir in the pineapple tidbits, chicken, almonds, and grapes until evenly coated. Chill until serving.

Oyako Donburi: Time 40 minutes
';This is a popular (at least in Hawaii) Japanese dish which is often served at restaurants in individual bowls. Oyako means mother and child, hence the main ingredients, chicken and eggs.';
INGREDIENTS
1 tablespoon vegetable oil
3/4 pound skinless, boneless chicken breast halves - cut into strips
1/2 onion, thinly sliced
1 cup chicken broth
6 dried shiitake mushrooms, soaked until soft, then sliced into strips
1 carrot, julienned
2 tablespoons white sugar
4 tablespoons soy sauce
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/2 cup chopped green onions
5 eggs, beaten
DIRECTIONS
Heat oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Saute chicken strips and onion until the chicken is cooked through, about 5 to 7 minutes. Drain off as much liquid as possible.
Stir in the chicken broth, and simmer for 2 minutes. Add the mushrooms and carrot, and let simmer for a few minutes before stirring in the sugar, soy sauce and salt. Simmer for 3 more minutes. Sprinkle in half of the green onions, stirring gently. Pour beaten eggs over the chicken mixture, and simmer until the eggs are cooked through, about 10 minutes. Serve over Japanese sticky rice.

Macadamia Nut Crusted Mahi Mahi- should take 1 hour total
INGREDIENTS
2 ounces macadamia nuts
4 ounces plain bread crumbs
6 (6 ounce) mahi mahi fillets
4 ounces butter
2 ounces shallots, diced
4 cups chicken stock
4 ounces pineapple, rough chopped
4 ounces papaya, rough chopped
4 ounces mango, rough chopped
1 tablespoon shredded coconut
2 habanero peppers, seeded
salt and pepper to taste
white sugar to taste
DIRECTIONS
Preheat oven to 375 degrees F (190 degrees C).
In a food processor or blender, pulse together macadamia nuts and breadcrumbs until finely ground. Pour nut mixture onto a plate, and coat fish fillets on both sides.
Heat butter in a large skillet over medium heat. Fry fillets on both sides until nuts are golden brown. Remove to a baking pan.
Add shallots to skillet, and cook until translucent. Stir in chicken stock. Mix in pineapple, papaya, mango, coconut, and habanero peppers. Season with salt, pepper, and sugar to taste. Simmer until sauce is thick, about 30 minutes. Strain to remove peppers, fruit, and shallots. Reserve sauce in a pan over low heat.

CHICKEN LONG RICE
3 pounds boneless, skinless chicken cut into small pieces or strips
6 tablespoons soy sauce
1 tablespoon sesame oil
2 tablespoons minced fresh ginger
3 cloves garlic, minced
1陆 teaspoons sugar
dash pepper
2 tablespoons vegetable oil
6-8 oz. sliced mushrooms, fresh is best
2-4 chopped green onions
10 oz. long rice (cellophane noodles, found in asian food section of most grocery stores)
8 oz chicken broth
Preparation:
Combine 2 tablespoons soy sauce, sesame oil, ginger, garlic, sugar and pepper to create a marinade. Add the chicken and marinate at least 20 minutes.
Cover and soak long rice in cold water for 30 minutes. Cut into eight lengths. (Smaller lengths can be used based on preference.)
Place a large skillet or wok over high heat. When hot add vegetable oil and marinated chicken. Cook until chicken no longer is pink, turning often. Reduce heat and add mushrooms, green onions, long rice, chicken broth and remainder of soy sauce. Simmer until hot, stirring often - about 3 minutes.
Note - Long rice requires very little cooking time, it basically needs only heating. It absorbs liquid very easily and can easily break down if cooked too long.
PINEAPPLE-LUAU STYLE
Cut a thick slice from the top and bottom of an unpeeled pineapple. Remove center of pineapple in a single cylinder, leaving 1/2-inch of the fruit inside the rind. Cut peeled fruit in quarters lengthwise, remove core and cut into eight spears. Replace bottom piece, securing with toothpicks; refill shell with spears and replace top. Serve by removing crown and pulling out the pineapple spears. Makes 8 servings.
lomi-lomi Salmon
Dice salmon fillet and season with hawaiian seasalt , seaweed strips, green onion and diced tomatoes. Place in fridge to cool then serve.
Macaroni Crab salad
elbo macaroni x 1 small box , cook and drain. Add
imitation crab x 1/2 - 1 whole pkg. chopped
miracle whip / mayonnaise (equal parts)
3 eggs boiled and chopped
chopped sweet gherkins (some use pickle relish but the chopped sweet pickles taste better)and a bit of the juices
salt %26amp; pepper
thawed frozen peas
chopped maui or vidalia onion (optional)
Chill and serve
Chicken thighs with teriyaki sauce. Baste with ready made teriyaki sauce adding extra sugar, ginger, and garlic to your tastes to improve it. Simmer chicken thighs in marinade on stove top (15 minutes for quick marinade when in hurry). Cook 5 mins each side on stove top grill pan. Sugar will carmelize giving it that nice golden color and the grill pan will give it the nice grill marks and cook quickly.
