Homemade puppy food recipes for a very picky baby?

My Chihuahua is 4 months and refuses to eat any store bought food I give her, wet or dry. I have been feeding her hamburger with rice and veggies, but I'm worried she isn't getting the nutrition she needs. I know what not to give her such as garlic, corn on the cob, ect. I just don't know what is healthiest for her that I can make at home. Any help you could give me would be much appreciated!Homemade puppy food recipes for a very picky baby?
Your pup wouldn't be picky if you didn't allow it. A healthy dog won't starve itself. Find a high quality well balanced food-store bought or home made-and offer it to your dog at meal time. Give it 20 minutes to eat. If it hasn't finished the food in 20 minutes remove the food and do not offer it or treats until the next scheduled mealtime. Your pup may miss a meal or two but it WILL eat what is presented when it gets hungry.Homemade puppy food recipes for a very picky baby?
The thing is, there are some healthy foods for dogs that you can make home maid, like eggs, eggs are supposed to have lots of nutrients for dogs, and some grains are essential. But, if you always feed your dog this and quit because of the expensive, if you put them back on normal dog food, like my dog, they will become picky. Not all dog food is cheap, actually all most all of it is pricey, but that's because if you get a special formula for puppies, they have all the nutrients that help your puppy develop and stay healthy. If you feed them other stuff, then they can have diarrhea and other issues if you feed them human food. I hope this helped.

STOP LETTING YOUR DOG BE THE BOSS!!!

You can make home made food buut most people who do end up with dogs with deficincies in all kinds of things. now stop feeding your dog human food too. go to your local vet or pet shop and pick up a good quality dry food. this will make sure she doesnt get teeth and gum problems as it is hard and scratches decay off teeth. make sure it is for small breed puppy.

then be the boss and be strong. put out the food and leave it there for 30 mins. after that put it away. dont worry if she didnt eat. make sure she always has water though. then feed her again at her next feeding time the exact same thing. she may not eat for a day or 2 but trust me she will not starve herself. she will eat the food you give her and buying a good quality dry food you know you are feeding her everything she needs.

also you need to start feeding her some chicken necks (UNCOOKED) to get her used to bones.

but please remember if your dog runs your life you dog will NOT be happy. dogs need a leader and your it so step up and be a good leader.
Get her the puppy food, set it out, and don't offer her anything else. After a day or so of being hungry, she'll eat the dog food.

But you can look up homemade dog food online.
I had a Pom and the Vet said to give her chicken with rice and green beans. She loved it. So if a Vet tells you to it should be right.

If you don't have access to a copy, here are some recipes - I changed them to meet my own dog's needs and they're not in their original form. I whited out and changed the ingredients so I can't give the original recipes - if you want them you should check out or buy a copy of Food Pets Die For.

They're appetizing AND healthy and dogs love them. Mine certainly does. We rotate some homemade and different commercial brands so he gets the benefit from multiple nutrient sources.

Or, here's a raw diet you could try-

Healthy, natural, and VERY appetizing to pets. Would try it but Dad says ';No!';

Good luck!
I would join a raw group, there are several in yahoo groups. they can help to balance the diet. do a search for barf diet or raw diet.
Tell your vet about this ..

Human food is NOT good for dogs
dont let him be then dont give him anything elsa and he will be eating dog food, or you cna try a different brand
You know I have got a theory on feeding dogs, and I know somebody is going to jump all over this and tell you how wrong I am, and don't listen too me that I am telling you wrong.

I think feed your dog whatever they like. If they prefer things like meat and veggies that you fix (don't salt, pepper, season them too much) give it too them. Yes of course don't give onions, garlic, chocolate things like that are bad for them.

Commercial dog food is something that has only been around for the last 50-75 years. What did people feed dogs prior to that? Table scraps, do you think the Pioneers were running out to get the dog a bag of kibble at Wally World? Or going to the vet to buy some exclusive (mind you expensive) brand of dog food cooked up in the laboratory? No they fed the dog scraps and the dog probably hunted and killed small animals and ate them. Now of course there is no need for the dog to eat animals anymore but they can still eat 90% of the table scraps. You have to think how the people ate back then. No junk food, no chips, candy things like that. The dogs got things like meat and fat scraps, veggies, bones, bread. We have become brained washed not to give our dogs table scraps because they are bad for them. Granted if your personal diet is bad maybe you should give your dog ';dog food';. But do you know what goes in this dog food we buy? It鈥檚 not the fancy stuff they show on TV. Dog food manufacturers buy the stuff that is unfit for human consumption. Bad meat, corn cobs, organs, chicken feathers, and rice that is not edible for humans, chicken feet, beaks, fats, oils, grease. They add few vitamins and we buy it. We pat ourselves on the back and think we are doing the right thing. And we think oh, how could we feed our dog off the table? It will make him sick, fat, unhealthy. Well if we are eating healthy or a least only give the dog the scraps of healthy items. Wouldn't you think it would be better than the crap we are pouring out of a bag or can to feed our dogs? Have you ever smelled some of that canned food? Have you ever tasted some of that dry kibble? Well I have. Laugh if you'd like but I want to know what I am feeding my dog. It鈥檚 horrible and don't tell me that the dog doesn't know it鈥檚 bad. They do, they have more acute senses than we do. But if all you are ever given is crap, and you are dog and can't voice your opinion other than refusal to eat this stuff eventually break down and eat or die. We force our dogs into eating this garbage because the dog food companies and Vets (who get money from these companies) tell us it鈥檚 bad to give dog鈥檚 human food. Why? So they can continue to take money from us for the dog food we buy. They get rich and nobody suffers except the poor old dog.

Now you can't be giving your dogs things like Cheetos and Count Chocula (think how that stuff wrecks our systems). Dogs need lots of protein and some vegetables and fruit and some carbohydrates. They will enjoy good health thru this diet. My dogs eat exclusively table scraps (and things I make for them) I have Chihuahua who is 12 years old and a Basset Hound who is 10 and they are healthy. They see the Vet he says they are in great shape. They are not overweight, no arthritis, no health issues. I don't see the need to change a good thing.

I don't feed them ';fresh'; milk only powdered as with my dogs they seem to not tolerate very well. I don't give them raw meat or eggs for the same reason I don't eat raw meat or eggs. I give them plenty of fresh water and exercise and regular Vet Visits.

I hope this helps.
Feed her a good quality dog food, and DO NOT feed her ANY table scraps (human food) no matter how much she begs and looks ';cute'; for it. She will eat her dog food eventually.

Here is a site that will show you which dog foods are the best and the worst. I suggest that you get any one of the dog foods that are top rated.

Most of grocery store dog food formulas, like IAMS, Pedigree, Science Diet, Purina, and etc contain ';meat and bone meal'; which has been known to contain dead dogs and cats that were euthanized in animal shelters. Their bodies are picked up and bought by the truck load by ';rendering plants'; , that also pick up road kill, dead live stock, and etc. They are shredded, and boiled. They skim off the fat on the top of the ';soup'; and collected it and sell it to pet food companies as ';animal fat';, the rest of the animals' remains are crushed up, dried and sold to dog and cat food companies as meat and bone meal.

You can read more about it here.

Here is an article where the owner of a rendering plant talks about it. He says that cremating the dead shelter animals would cause pollution, and that rendering them is good.

The raw diet , which is also known as the B.A.R.F. diet is also another great option. Here is information on getting started on it.
